Engineer-economist from the Ecole Centrale Paris, Jérôme Poggi is a graduate of the l'Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS, Paris), with a Masters in Art History from the University of Paris I - Panthéon Sorbonne.

He teaches at the Ecole Centrale Paris and for several Franco-American university programs. He has worked for several years in the institutional environment of art, abroad as artistic attaché with the Consulate General of France in Atlanta in 1997/98, in France as assistant director of the Domaine de Kerguéhennec from 1998 to 2001 and as general coordinator for the Interprofessional Congress of Contemporary Art in 2001 / 2002.

In 2004, he founded OBJET DE PRODUCTION, and is today director of the association, at the heart of which he contributes notably to the development of the action of the "Nouveaux Commanditaires" (New Patrons) with the support of the Fondation de France. In 2009, he teamed up with Peter Bertoux to create the gallery POGGI & BERTOUX ASSOCIES and opened an exhibition space in Paris, near the Gare du Nord. In 2011, the gallery turned into the GALERIE JÉRÔME POGGI, after the departure of Peter Bertoux who is now president of OBJET DE PRODUCTION.

Art and culture historian, Jérôme Poggi is specialized in the history of cultural politics and in the history of the art market, studying in particular alternatives to the art market as experimented during the 19th century. Author of several articles, he published a selection of Edvard Munch's writings at the Presses du Réel (2011) and is finalizing a work on "the Gallery of the Boulevard des Italiens (1859-1865) Anti-chamber of Modernity". He regularly publishes critical texts on contemporary artists and curates various exhibitions, of which recently the retrospective of Kees Visser at the Musée Matisse (2009). Film director, he co-directed for the Fondation de France with François Hers a series of films about the most emblematic commissions the "Nouveaux Commanditaires" carried out during the past fifteen years.
